Villa confirm Coutinho returns to Vasco da Gama on loan

  • Vasco da Gama have announced the return of Philippe Coutinho on loan from Aston Villa until the end of the season.

Brazilian top-flight club Vasco da Gama have announced the signing of Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho on loan from Aston Villa until the end of the season.

“I’m very happy and excited. I’ve been abroad for a long time, so it’s like coming home,” Coutinho said.

“Vasco is the club I love, the place where I grew up and ยูฟ่าเบท gave me love. Everyone knows how happy I am and my family are to be back.”

Last season, the 32-year-old was sent on loan to Al Duhail in Qatar. Where he scored seven goals and provided three assists in 22 appearances, but there was no option to buy him outright.

Contracted to the Villans until 2026 after joining for £17m. But he is not in Unai Emery’s plans, opening the door for Vasco da Gama to bring him in.

The 32-year-old star, has left Villa Park on loan once again, having joined Qatari side Al Duhail last season. On July 10, the Villans announced that he had moved to Vasco da Gama on loan.

Coutinho previously started his career youth player at Vasco da Gama. Before leaving his homeland to play professionally with Inter Milan before being snapped up by Liverpool.

However, Coutinho’s future was in doubt after signing for Barcelona.

​​Who then loaned him to Bayern Munich and Aston Villa, before the Midlands side decided to sign him permanently in May 2022. In total, the Brazilian has made 43 appearances for the club, scoring six goals in all competitions
